Start after boarding, not while moving through the bus
Sit down or establish a safe position before using the phone. Choose the unit, start the session and grant location access if you want a measurement. On a crowded vehicle, do not sacrifice a handhold to watch the gauge. Keep the device inside the vehicle, avoid obstructing another passenger and do not ask the driver to help configure it. A measurement can wait until the conditions are suitable for a short, safe check.
Separate city reception from the bus’s actual movement
Tall buildings, flyovers and covered terminals can make location observations unreliable or unavailable. Small changes on the display while the bus is at a stop may be positioning noise, not movement of the vehicle. Look for a pattern across fresh updates once the bus reaches a more open section. Good mobile reception or a working passenger Wi-Fi connection does not prove that the phone currently has an equally useful speed observation.

Understand why a city-trip average looks low
Boarding, traffic lights and queues extend the time of a session even when some stretches are travelled much faster. As an arithmetic example, 6 km counted over 30 minutes gives 12 km/h on average. That is not a statement that the bus cruised at 12 km/h. The site’s average uses counted distance and elapsed session time, not a separate certified moving-only average. If location data are missing, the distance and summary can also be incomplete.
Use a coach journey for a steady check, not a speed record
A longer open-road stretch can provide an easier-to-interpret sequence than repeated acceleration between city stops. Even then, do not select one peak from a patchy trace and call it the coach’s verified maximum. A GPS estimate is not the vehicle’s tachograph record. Compare the current number with its surrounding updates, selected unit and any interruptions. This page is for passenger information; it cannot determine compliance with a road limit or an operator’s policy.
Treat alarms and arrival information as different functions
Any speed threshold in the instrument is a value you choose. It does not know the route’s legal limits, detect your destination or warn that your stop is next. Sound and vibration depend on the browser and phone. Use service announcements and the operator’s journey information for stops and connections. Dividing a remaining map distance by the current speed ignores traffic, detours and dwell time, so it is not a dependable estimate of bus arrival.
Finish at the right boundary and keep a useful summary
Stop before alighting if you want to exclude walking to the next connection. For comparing two journeys, use similar start and end boundaries and record whether either session lost location. A saved summary is local to this browser, not a shared fleet record or a full route export. If you need to report a travel concern, follow the operator’s normal process and describe the situation; do not present a phone peak alone as certified evidence.

Is this connected to the bus driver’s dashboard?
No. The instrument receives observations from your own device and has no connection to the bus electronics or operator systems.
Can a parent track a school bus from home?
Not with this page. It does not remotely locate someone else’s phone or vehicle. Use an appropriately authorized tracking service if one is provided.
Does it work on an intercity coach?
It can provide a passenger check when the phone supplies usable observations. Vehicle construction and surroundings still affect reception.
Does a tiny speed while stopped prove the bus is rolling?
No. Location noise can cause small apparent movement. Interpret fresh readings and actual conditions together rather than one small number.
Can it tell me when to get off?
No. It has no stop list or destination alert. Follow announcements and official route information.
